This resource guide is the result of a two-year project initiated by the Literacy for Life Foundation in partnership with the Rainbow Literacy Society, two organizations that provide family and adult literacy programs in the Foothills area of Alberta.
This purpose of document, compiled by the Edmonton-based Centre for Family Literacy, is to provide as comprehensive a listing as possible of family literacy programs operating in communities across Alberta. It includes information on the programs funded through Alberta Advanced Education and Technology’s Parent-Child Literacy Strategy, as well as programs funded through other sources.
This list was compiled to help adult literacy educators find resources pertaining to learning disabilities. The list is organized according to six principles of good practice aimed at supporting a “whole life” approach to working with people with learning disabilities in adult literacy settings.
This report grew out of a project entitled Provincial Partnerships to Promote Essential Skills: Motivation, Process and Outcomes. The partners agreed to focus on an Essential Skills resource for frontline practitioners and they developed a manual for that purpose. Originally, the focus was on developing a workshop that could be presented in venues appropriate to each of the project partners.

This book originated in a course that was offered as part of the Research in Practice in Adult Literacy Network Project, a project initiated in 2000 involving Literacy Alberta, the Learning Centre Literacy Association, and the Centre for Research on Literacy at the University of Alberta. As the title suggests, this guide was written to help literacy practitioners conduct research related to their practice.
A resource guide for Ontario's community literacy agencies
This document is a resource guide on marketing strategies intended for Ontario’s community literacy agencies. Community Literacy of Ontario created this guide as part of a project that it had undertaken in response to requests from the field for useful marketing strategies, tools and resources.
