In this study, commissioned by the Canadian Council on Learning (CCL), the authors explore the learning experiences of older adults. They point out that learning characterizes older adulthood as much as it defines the childhood years, but receives far less attention and systematic investigation.
This is a collection of stories and poems written by members of the Sydney Writing Circle, a group that is supported by the Adult Learning Association of Cape Breton County in Nova Scotia. The Sydney Writing Circle continues to flourish. Each Tuesday afternoon members meet to share their writings, to engage in writing activities, and to lend encouragement to each

This collection of stories is the culmination of a project undertaken in 2004 by The Word On The Street in partnership with the Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy and the National Literacy Secretariat. It follows up on the 2002 project pilot "Land That I Dream Of." The stories in this book have been written by adults in literacy programs in Toronto.

In 2003, in collaboration with Blue Metropolis, The Montreal International Literary Festival, The Centre for Literacy presented the fifth annual Grassroots: Community Writing and Arts event.
The 2002 Grassroots: Community Writing event was once again part of the Blue Metropolis Literary Festival. The festival theme was the architecture of language. The Centre for Literacy brought together storytellers and writers who have written and published in community-based settings rather than inside institutions, and who have built bridges among verbal, oral, and visual literacies.
