Five Views: The New Brunswick Re-entry Project (1998)

Women's Education des femmes, Winter 1988 - Vol. 6, No. 1

CCLOW's New Brunswick network completed its first re-entry project in May of 1983. To be eligible at the time, a woman had to have been out of the labor force for at least three years. The successful program ran for 20 weeks, cost $75,000 and combined classes with on-the-job training. Fifteen women were trained in non-traditional jobs: security, loss-prevention, plant nursery and printing.

AlphaCom Guidebook - Version 5.0 (1998)

Discussion groups are a convenient way for large groups to gather and share ideas, while reducing the need for face-to-face meetings. AlphaCom offers private discussion groups to literacy organizations free of charge. It provides registered users with moderated discussions, password-protection and the ability to attach files. The AlphaCom Guidebook aims to teach novice users how to register and participate in these discussions.

This book is the inspiring story of a factory worker, Robert Grimminck a father of five children, who at age 34 received a serious spinal injury from an industrial accident. Worse than his back injury, was for Robert facing the reality of being a functional illiterate, an embarrassing secret he kept most of his life. In order for Robert to regain control of his life he went back to school to get his high school diploma.
