Rally for Literacy (2012)

In 2011, Lachlan MacLean of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories approached the NWT Literacy Council with a proposal for a fundraising project: a car rally that would take him around one-third of the world, from England to Mongolia. This how-to kit uses the Rally for Literacy as the basis for activities designed to strengthen Literacy and Essential Skills.

Adding to My Skills…Numeracy Curriculum for Essential Skills 1 and 2 (2011)

The focus of this project is to use real-life numeracy activities as a starting point for developing skills required in the workplace.

The curriculum is divided into 18 classes with each class introducing an everyday life activity for a reference point, then continuing to reinforce the embedded numeracy skills present using workplace activities. The workplace activities are at Essential Skill level one and two.
